The Plan(TM) and Some Technical Tips

Some words on the plan with the 'grins' and some tips on how to get started:

The Plan(tm)
The Plan(tm) with the multi-boxing team is simply to have fun and try something different, my main focus is PvE play, but will definitely try some PvP to.
The decision to go with 5 shaman was based on:
  • Running 5 characters of the same class is simpler than trying to manage a 'proper' group
  • It's a proven combo for both PvE and PvP
  • And, at 70 I can choose to swap one shaman out for my main, a Paladin, for some improved tanking capability
Get Started with Multi-Boxing
First of all, if you are interested in trying this out - Read up at the Dual-Boxing community - There is a wealth of information there and a very helpful community.

Secondly, if you intend to box more than 2/3 characters - Make sure you either have multiple computers or a decently powerful one (don't need a monster, a mid range computer that can run games like Crysis will run 5 instances of WoW if configured properly - Maybe not with low enough lag to let you do Arenas efficiently, but definitely to do instances).

Thirdly, make sure you are the owner of the WoW accounts you intend to use - Playing someone else's accounts breaks the ToS and can get you banned.

And lastly, as buying and subscribing to 4-5 accounts is quite a cost, I do recomend that you use the 10 day trial accounts to validate that you got the hardware and software to run what you want - And that you actually enjoy it ;)

This guide, tailored to running mages, is a good place to start your experiment once the above is settled.
For further information, again check the Dual-Boxing community, especially the Wiki.
